FAQ'SWrinkles Can Be Improved W/O Surgery! | ||

Dear Dr. Winder: A.Yes, there are many different treatments for wrinkles that have little or no down time where you wouldn't need to take much time off from work. It would, of course, be necessary for me to see you in consultation to determine if any of these alternative treatments might be appropriate in your case . . . in the meantime, let me tell you about them. COLLAGEN & DERMALOGEN INJECTIONSCollagen is present in our skin and is what makes it elastic; as we age, however, we begin to notice that our skin becomes more and more lax as we lose our Collagen. Injectable "Collagen" is bovine-derived and can "plump" up wrinkles making them much less noticeable. For patients who are allergic to bovine-derived Collagen, a newer product called "Dermalogen" is human-derived. MICRO-GRAFT FAT INJECTIONSMicro-graft fat injections are ideal for patients who want to use their own fat to plump up wrinkles. A small amount of fat is harvested, usually from the tummy, and then injected into the wrinkles. BOTOX INJECTIONSEspecially good for wrinkles between the eyebrows and crow's feet, "Botox" is injected into the underlying muscle paralyzing the muscle; within a few days the wrinkle will smooth out.DERMAL FAT & ALLODERMDeep layers of the patient's skin (dermal fat) can be implanted under a wrinkle. "Alloderm" is human-derived soft tissue that can also be implanted under a wrinkle. MICRODERMABRASIONMost commonly called a "power peel", microdermabrasion is a procedure which sprays aluminum-oxide crystals at high force onto the skin; multiple treatments can improve fine lines and wrinkles.
